Belated Trip Photos

We took a 4 day, 3 night trip to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. We hiked out of Bryson City and hiked about 45-50 miles along Fontana Lake and Hazel Creek. Time on the trail is always full of conversation, especially about foods we plan on eating once we get off the trail. We woke up one morning after a heavy rain and packed all our wet gear, adding at least 1,000,000 pounds in water weight. We got to a brilliant campsite that afternoon at 3:00 and found a piece of rope and dried our clothes and all our gear. We bathed in the spring-fed creek, walked around in camp shoes and visited an old cemetary. We realized that THIS is what backpacking is about. Until the next morning when we woke to thunder at 6:00 am... 16 miles later, we peeled out of the parking lot and headed to the Sleep Inn of Bryson City. Anthony's New York style pizza, hot wings, and 2 cannolis later we were content and ready for our next trip- hopefully next month.
